This bead has beautiful shades of purple and lavender ( sort of orchid color - it is definitely color enhanced ) . I am not absolutely sure what type of stone it is - it even has the bead dealer and all his workers stumped . It might be quartz or aventurine or some other stone . The decision was to call it jasper because when in doubt call it jasper . It is beveled on the edges which gives it a bit more formal look , I think . It is drilled through the bead and measures 40mm and is 8mm thick .
